As a partner in the community, the Peoria Police Department is sharing real estate related criminal incidents to assist you in making decisions to possibly deter crime. Since April 6, 2012, the Peoria Police Department has experienced approximately 8 incidences where air conditioner units or parts, appliances and pool vacuums have been taken. WeMAR has received notice that window sun and shade screens are being stolen from vacant retirement homes. The sellers have called the police; however they say they have other priority calls and cannot send an officer out. The recommendation is to remove the screens from the windows and store them where they cannot be stolen. The seller still may want to call the police so they are aware this theft is taking place. Beginning July 18, 2011, the City of Buckeye began a new sticker program for residential customers in Verrado to identify paying customers for refuse collection. Residents who have registered with the town will receive a green sticker for their trash container and a yellow sticker for their recycling container.
