About this Event
This course will cover:- Identify common
real world commission issues that result in disputes between licensees. - Explore workable solutions to the identified disputes to better protect the public and licensees in avoiding commission disputes.
- Understand when listing brokers/agents are entitled to compensation from sellers.
- Understand when buyers’ brokers/agents are entitled to compensation from listing brokers/agent.
- Explain the basic principles of procuring cause as defined by Arizona law and by the policies, procedures
and guidelines of the National Association of REALTORS®. - Understand and explain examples of commission issues/disputes that would constitute interference with a real estate transaction as defined by the Commissioner’s Rules.

Don Martin
Since becoming licensed in 1979, Don has been involved in all aspects of the real estate business. He has been the designated broker of his own successful company and of an ultra large company of over 1,100 agents.
Don is past president of both a local and state association and has been a member and chair of numerous REALTOR® association committees and work groups at the local, state and national levels over a span of 30+ years. He is a former REALTOR® of the Year at three different associations and was honored by the Arizona Association of REALTORS® with the Distinguished Service Award in 2009.
Don is a national real estate educator and leadership trainer as well as an Arizona GRI faculty member. He has trained thousands of REALTORS® on ethics and professional standards, contracts, fair housing, agency, and other risk management topics and is also a certified mediator, professional standards consultant, and expert witness on broker standard of care and procuring cause issues.
Don currently lives in Chicago with his wife, business associate and traveling companion Alice.
